TATTOO booking info

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

It’s best to be prepared with ideas, reference photos, and placement options. I will ask for a straight-on well lit photo of the area for any custom designs. For flash pieces, only size and placement will need to be discussed along with any tweaks you would like. Please remember to bring your photo ID and payment.

CONSUlting

Deposits are always NON-REFUNDABLE. My average deposit will range from $50 - $150 to lock in your appointment date. This cost WILL be credited to your final appointment price unless there is a cancellation. Since I will be at a loss from an open working-day and/or drawing time, in this case, the deposit will be forfeited. If there must be a reschedule, please inform me within 5 days of the appointment. If there are more than two reschedules, the deposit will be forefeited.

Deposits can be taken in cash during a consultation, or online through Zelle (530-368-5907) or Venmo (@micahhan).

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

GENERAL AFTERCARE

After your appointment, I may sanitize and wrap your tattoo in plastic wrap. In this case, we would dry heal. Sleep with the tattoo wrapped to protect it from and chafing. In the morning, gently lather the area with an UNSCENTED soap or cleanser. Scented products can be irritants to open skin. Dove, Dial, CeraVe, and Cetaphil are all great options!

Make sure to moisturize the area MULTIPLE times a day! Again, look for unscented products. Dryness and cracking lifts the ink from deeper areas of the skin, so its best to be avoided. Even so, some peeling, weeping, and even bruising are natural parts of the healing process and are not much to be worried about. You can contact me with any concerns though!

Many ask about occlusives like aquaphor and vaseline. These are best to be avoided, as they SIT on the skin to trap in moisture, rather than fully absorbing into the skin. This can trap in bacteria.

Make sure to be as gentle as possible during aftercare. Keep in mind that this is a healing wound! The quicker and more seamless the healing process, the better the piece will show in the long run. If peeling occurs, do not PICK at the dead skin, and avoid chafing at all costs. Scabbing of the area is bad news, and is best to be avoided. Unless very necessary, try not to rewrap the area, especially without cleaning first, as this could trap bacteria around the wound, and infect the area.

After the appointment, I may wrap your tattoo in Saniderm or “second skin.” This product is waterproof so no worries about showering afterwards! Its best to keep this on for at least three days after the appointment, as removing it beforehand can lift some of the ink. If you are experiencing irritation around the edges of the Saniderm, remove it IMMEDIATELY, as this means you are allergic to the adhesive.

Removal after five days is reccommended, but some keep it on for seven without any worries. Bruising and weeping are natural, and there may be small bubbles of liquid under the saniderm. This is alright, unless there is irritation around these areas, OR it leaks out of the edge of the Saniderm patch. In these cases its best to remove it immediately.

You can remove the patch in the shower under lukewarm running water. Let the water flow downwards into the crase of where you’re peeling, and peel slowly downwards. Afterwards, lather with soap and moisturize!
